Advanced Interfaces

Potential Sheridan College Post Grad Program: Advanced Interfaces

About

Advanced Interfaces have always been a part of the Sheridan Interactive Multimedia (IMM) one-year post grad program. Students have successfully made prototypes in these technologies for over ten years. One of the main focuses of IMM over the years has been mobile. Now that mobile has grown tremendously along with Web applications in HTML 5, etc., there is less time for content creation with other advanced technologies. It is proposed that a new program is needed to explore content creation for advanced interfaces (select the icons for more information).

Dan Zen who co-coordinated the IMM program has been given time to look into this potential new program as hopefully a joint program between FAST and FAAD. He has been building in these areas for twenty years. Some examples can be found here: Flash Feathers - Open Source Advanced Interface Classes. He has given talks and workshops: Mediated Reality - Past Present and Future. He regularily attends the CITO (CreateInTO) user group for professionals working with advanced interfaces and all the FITC (Future Innovation Technology Creativity) festivals featuring hundreds of creators from around the world. He keeps in touch with industry at events such as the Fall Tour Interactive, and Creative Technologists of Toronto, etc. His recent Sabbatical report features four projects in advanced interfaces along with an overarching creativity framework.
