Purpose:

Web Sites exist for a purpose. If you clarify the purpose of a web site, you will be able to define the project and improve the effectiveness of the site in terms of its communication and usage.

Two Perspectives

There are two perspective of a site and developing a site needs to be bring together these often opposing perspectives. There is the owner/sponser and the visitor/user. As a designer/developer you need to balance the needs of both, however, the most important element to consider is the User.

Owner Perspective

  • Why do they want a web site?
  • With whom do they want to connect with?
  • What do they hope visitors will take away from the site?
  • What does the owner wish to gain from this?
  • What do they want the visitor to remember about the site?
  • What perspection of the "brand" to they want visitors to have?

    User Perspective

  • Who are the intended users of the site?
  • Why are the coming to the site?
  • What will make the visit positive for them?
  • What will make the return?
  • What is there perspection of the "brand"?
